Chit Chat in the Middle of the Night

I am void of creative or inspirational energy today. Just so you know. Last night I woke up when Matt and Carolyn came in and spent between 1:30 and 3:03 this morning hanging out with them. The moments are so much fewer and further apart now than they were when he was younger, another reminder to grab those moments now while the girls are still young and I can manage to sneak a hug or conversation at a decent hour. (Except Miss Nicole and I missed out on that special time because I expect/You decide didn't go well at all. And up to her room she went).

But now they are gone again, off to a music festival in OH this weekend. I miss them and am glad I grabbed the moments, however inconvenient, to chat with them, but I also still believe that middle aged women (that would be me) and twenty something year old guys (that would be Matt) don't belong under the same roof for extended periods of time.

Hi Kathy,

I know exactly what you mean about how wonderful it is to spend time with one's "grown" children. I love getting their outlook on things and they are so wonderfully opinionated. It's also gratifying to hear them appreciate how difficult it is just to make a living and pay basic expenses. Now they can see some of the sacrifices Mom and Dad made for the luxuries they used to take for granted. Especially for their college educations. We heard from Ben today. He is down to the wire finding an apartment and his brother is moving out tomorrow! He hopes his appointment with a potential apartment mate today at 12:30 goes well. I should hope so! He knows he can come home as an absolute fall-back, but even that is complicated because he now has 2 car loads of stuff in Boston and no car. Jeff offered to send him a large box - ha, ha.
Love,
Katy

I do like catching up with the older crew, I just wish it was at more normal times of day and night. Since Chris lives in town, its not a problem, but Matt isn't around too much, so the opportunities are few and far between, so I guess I will grab them when I can, even if it is in the middle of the night.
