Please Pray for My Dad

Some of you I know, some of you I feel I know, and some of you I don't know. But I am here now to ask that you please pray for my dad. (The rest of us will need it too, as you will see).

My dad fell down a flight of stairs late this afternoon and sustained a closed head injury with a brain bleed. He has been through surgery and while his vitals are stable, is in a medically induced coma with no sense of prognosis at this time. He is in the Surgical ICU of Cornell Presbyterian Medical Center in NYC. My mom is confused and ended up going to the wrong hospital. I can't leave till I get the health care durable power of attorney out of my safe deposit box.

Matt is home from a peaceful and healing trip to see Carolyn and will come with me for which I am very thankful. Chris and Erin (my son and his girlfriend) are here and will take care of our girls. Howie is strong, but Jesus stronger, and I pray that He can heal and sustain us all.

Thanks.

Not knowing is torture (espeicially for those of us who would rather DO than wait). You feel like you are in limbo. But God is not in limbo and He will give you the strength to move through all this.

Thank goodness you have a poa already in place!! That would be a problem for us!!

Oh, Kathy, I am so sorry about your dad. You already had your hands full and no more room for worries in your head.

As you may remember, my brother is head injured and was in a coma for 6 weeks, plus the two additional weeks it took to come out of it. (It's not like on TV, where the coma patient just suddenly wakes up, fully alert and aware.) It's a horrible, insidious injury. I have lots of empathy for you, your mom and your dad. And I will send all the good thoughts I can muster your way.

Keep us posted.
Love,
Katy
