A Simple Prayer

Lord, Give me strength. Strength to continue when I feel like quitting. Strength to keep my mouth shut when deep inside I know I should. Strength to soften my frustration with others when it seems to just ooze out, and mostly the strength to seek your guidance in how to represent you. I grieve when my actions do not reflect the humility and genuine caring that you have modeled for us. May we seek your face in all we do.
Amen

There is a kid on K's basketball team who nearly fouled out Saturday. His particular weakness is that in his boldness, he fouls, and coach is working on that.

On the way to the car after the game, K pointed out that J sure fouls a lot! To which I replied that the coach was working with him on that, and that each teammate had some area of weakness, and that the coach was teaching each child to get better in his or her own area.

I think the way Jesus put is was, "Before you try to take the sliver out of your neighbor's eye, take the log out of your own." (paraphrased, of course).

When I start to get frustrated with someone for something that seams easy to me, I remember that I have a real hard time with stuff that seems easy to others. We each hare our areas, and getting frustrated with someone about there theirs seldom helps them grow.

Perhaps we need to try to model the attitude you displayed at the concession stand of "How can I help?".

A simple prayer...

Lord, please give us YOUR eyes and YOUR heart for the people you send into our lives, that our words and our actions and our expressions would be the very things You would do and say; and that when they look into our eyes, they may see YOU.

Amen. Your prayer ties in so well with so many areas of my life now, today, that I think it will be the springboard for my nest post...
