Home

I have been away the last two days at a retreat. It was restful and a blessing. The theme was, "Lord, fill my cup for such a time as this." I am living through a time in which my cup needs to be not only full, but overflowing. I know I will need much strength, but I also know where my strength comes from; and that truth prevails.

I am tired, but glad to be home. The days ahead will bring many decisions and chores. Truth prevails and triumphs. Of this I am certain.

"A good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a crafty man." (Proverbs 12:2) I have received much favor, and walk in this promise.

Peace.

I think this is one of the "natural" laws of the universe...sort of like Karma...

When I went to Wicked a few weeks ago with my daughter, she had several things happen to her that I consider "blessed"....because she walks in the favor of the lord.

The show started in Portland at 2. Portland, on a good day, is roughly a 2-hour drive from here. We left at 10:30. She was hoping to get up there by 1:15 to find parking and all that. Neither of us knew exactly where the Keller Auditorium was or exactly how to get there. She had looked at Google the night before, but it wasn't really all that clear. She said "3rd and Clay" and I'm thinking to myself "4th Street exit, like going to the marathon..

We stopped in Salem to have lunch. Neither of us familiar enough with Salem to know where anything good it. I vaguely remember there is a Sizzler on Lancaster, but we turn left instead of right and have to call my dh to get directions...there goes 15 minutes.

When we get there of course it's the height of lunch rush and the service is slow and they bring me the wrong order, something I dn't even like, so I am assertive and ask for the right thing...

And then I have to go potty on the way out, but the bathroom is full and really foul smelling, so I skip it. When I get to the van it's already 1:00, and Portlad is an hour away still. I told Laura, "We aren't going to meke it." She says, "We will make it."

We pull off, miraculously, at the right exit at 1:45, just blocks from where we need to be but have no idea where to park. So we pray, "Jesus, will you PLEASE show us where to park? Flashing lights would be really nice." We are downtown Portland. We see the auditorium, drive right past it, people are walking from all directions, blocks...But then ahead of us we see a LONG line of cars with their blinkers going (flashing lights, if you will) and we realize there is a whole parcade that is not even full. But it's 1:55!! There is no way, in all this traffic that we have time to park AND get in in time. On the other hand, will they start the show while there are this many people still arriving? (and I have to pee something fierce). Then we see the "valet parking" sign. It's a miracle! We get there and they are still announcing "5 minutes". Our seats are on the far side of the building from the ladies bathroom (which undoubtedly has a long line, it always does) but the handicapped bathroom is right there..no line....and the ushers are saying "If there's no one there, you can use it!"

Bottom line, great show. But we don't know how to get OUT of Portland ande up going east, across the river, in rush hour...coming back would take FOREVER, so we go east and then head south and in Oregon City, at dinner time, we pass an IHOP (where my daughter in her pregnant state, has been CRAVING to go for weeks) so she says, "We're having dinner here." and we do.

I don't remember where we crossed the river again, but we were able to get back onto the freeway near Aurora and made it home uneventfully, without fighting any traffic...and having had a wonderful day.

things just work out for her. My son has similar luck. And I used to be a Murphy....
